Tavas : Lamb & Cumin Casserole

Serves 4

Can be made in a slow cooker

500g lean boneless lamb, cut into large pieces
3 large onions, sliced fairly thickly
6 large ripe tomatoes, peeled & roughly chopped (or 1 x 400g tin)
2 tsp cumin seeds, crushed
salt & pepper
125 ml water or stock

Put everything in a large casserole, stir to combine, cover tightly and place in a cool oven (about 150ºC Gas 3) for about 3 hours until the lamb is tender and the sauce is thick.


Serve with couscous or rice & additional crushed cumin seeds to garnish.
