Bolognaise Meatballs

Bolognaise Meatballs

Serves 4

Core recipe

450g very lean minced beef
2 tbsp tomato puree
½ tsp dried mixed herbs
2 tomatoes, deseeded and chopped
seasoning

Sauce
1 onion, chopped
1 carrot, peeled and diced
1 stick celery, chopped
1 clove garlic, crushed
400g can chopped tomatoes
300ml stock
½ tsp dried mixed herbs
seasoning


Mix all meatball ingredients together (preferably in a food processor) and make into 16 balls. 

Dry fry onion, carrot, celery and garlic in non-stick frying pan for about 5 minutes. 
Add other sauce ingredients, mix thoroughly and bring to boil. 

Place meatballs in sauce and simmer, uncovered, for 20-25 minutes until meatballs are cooked and sauce has thickened.

Serve with pasta or potato wedges
