Pizzaiola Steak



Pizzaiola Steak

Serves 4

680g fresh plum tomatoes, skinned, deseeded and chopped
1 medium onion. finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
4 tbsp stock or water
1 tbsp freshly chopped marjoram or 1 tps dried
1 level tbsp tomato puree
1 tsp splenda
salt & pepper
4 x 170g sirloin steaks
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Place the onion and garlic into a pan with the stock or water and bring to the boil.  Simmer 4-5 mins until tender, stir in the tomatoes, marjoram, tomato puree and sweetener and season to taste.  Add 2 tbsp water, bring to the boil and simmer gently for 10 mins stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile trim the fat from the steaks and cook under the grill, on the barbecue, on the George or in a griddle pan until cooked to your liking.


Stir the parsley into the sauce and serve over the steaks.
