Beef in Beer

Beef in Beer

Another community recipe.  It is in original points so recalculate for your plan

From the kitchen of  ERMINTRUDE75

servings 2
estimated Points® per serving | 6
250g beef stir-fry (5.5pts)
2 tbsp flour (2pts)
1 tbsp oil (2.5 pts)
1 onion, roughly chopped
1 carrot, cut into rounds
1 stick celery, thinly sliced
4 mushrooms, quartered
black pepper
1/4 to 1/2 pint beer (1-1.5 pts) (Theakston's Old Peculier works well)

Chop up any long strips of beef. Coat them in flour and black pepper (shake about in tupperware box for minimum mess or a plastic bag)

Fry in hot oil until slightly browned. Then fry onions in same pan/oil.

Add meat, onions, veg and beer to casserole dish and bake in a low oven for about 2 hours. Or leave in slow cooker all day.

Serve with 2 points worth of mash, or a thick slice of bread, to soak up the lovely juices.

Points are 5.5 to 6 depending on amount of beer used :) You might also be able to get away with less fat and/or flour. More beer/less flour makes for thinner "gravy".
